Wayward Children, #8

Lost in the Moment and Found by Seanan McGuire is a portal fantasy novella and the eighth entry to the Wayward Children series. I listened to the audiobook, which clocks in at a little under five hours and is narrated by Jesse Vilinsky.
Antoinette “Antsy” lost her father to a heart attack when she was young. After dealing with some other traumas, she runs away from home and finds herself within the Shop Where the Lost Things Go. Many doors will open for her and show her many worlds, but there is always a cost for everything and she is never promised a return trip home.
As an even-numbered book in this series, it is a stand-alone and does not progress the chronological plot line of the series forward.
Check the CWs on this one. Every book in this series tends to deal with some heavy topics, but this one really showcases how easily childhood innocence can be lost.
We learn a bit about the macro plot of the series here, and get some tidbits about the doorways and how they work.
CW: parent death (heart attack), grief, grooming (in the Authors Note at the beginning of the book, she notes that nothing physical happens), gaslighting, emotional abuse, descriptions of panic attacks, self harm (brief), child abuse
