Counting the Cost by Jill Duggar is a memoir reflecting upon what it really meant to have “grown up Duggar.” I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by the author.
Jill, the second daughter and fourth overall child of the Duggar family of 19 Kids and Counting fame is finally able to tell her side of the story, after a lot of therapy.
Jill narrates this memoir, and she does a great job with it. Though she had the help of a ghostwriter and her husband, this still reads true to her voice, so bravo to everyone who put this together.
If you’re looking for a tell-all, this is not that. However, I’m proud of Jill for speaking he truth, and how she is not afraid to self-advocate. I’m glad that her husband, Derek, seems to support her on all fronts. They’re both putting in the work, though their deconstruction hasn’t made it as far as I’d hoped.
