Beautiful Vengeance by Katee Robert is a steamy romantic suspense and the fourth book in the O’Malleys series.

I borrowed the audiobook from my local library, which was still under its original title, Forbidden Promises. It’s narrated by Charlotte North and she does a great job. You could probably read this one as a stand-alone, but I’d recommend reading the books in order to get all the details of the relationships in the previous three books in the series.

Sloan is the quiet and sheltered daughter who got away from the O’Malley crime family in Boston, fleeing to the pacific northwest thanks to the help of her brother and sister-in-law. But once she meets her next-door neighbor Jude, she may find a similar danger.

She starts out a bit naive for a 24-year-old, but we finally get to see who Sloan really is in this one! She was kind of a shell in the previous books so it was really good to see her spread her wings and come into her own.

The book does use one of my least favorite tropes, but overall I enjoyed it.
