Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage is a contemporary cowboy romance and the start of the Rebel Blue Ranch series.

This book was EVERYWHERE and I heard pretty good reviews. I read one chapter of this before I left for a camping weekend with friends and inhaled the rest of it while in my hammock at the cabin.

The setting and characters are great, and I’m excited to dig into some of them in their own books in the future. In this book, we follow Emmy–who went off to college and became a professional rodeo rider–and her brother’s best friend Luke–who used to be a bad boy but now he owns the town bar.

Emmy finds herself unable to get back on the horse after a riding accident, so she travels back home to sort things out. Luke offers to help her process her fears so she can get back to riding. Their chemistry is pretty great and it was lovely watching them grow as individuals and together as the book went on. There’s good mental health rep here regarding processing trauma.

Also, everyone deserves a best friend like Teddy and I’m so excited to eventually get a book between her and Emmy’s brother, Gus. They are my favorite trope: enemies to lovers. Her dad, Amos, is also pretty great.
