Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese is a contemporary sports romance and the first book in the Bergman Brothers series.
I borrowed the audiobook from my library for an Olympics Reading Challenge. The narrators, Nelson Hobbs and CJ Bloom, did a great job.
We follow the quiet brother, Ryder, who finds an immediate rival in one of his college classmates, Willa. Willa is an upcoming women’s soccer star, and Ryder is hard of hearing. After some miscommunication, the two of them start to realize how many things they have in common.
I definitely rooted for the two of them, both together and individually on their journeys to work on their respective emotional burdens.
Though I think this book ran a little long, I still enjoyed my read. Make sure to check CWs though, if you need.
Tropes in this book include: enemies to lovers, miscommunication (but done well), slow burn, found family
CW: death of parent, cancer
The Bergman Brothers Series includes:
- Only When It’s Us
- Always Only You
- Ever After Always
- With You Forever
- Everything For You
- If Only You
- Only and Forever
