She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen is a charming queer enemies to lovers YA rom-com.

I initially picked this one up for an Olympics reading challenge, but also specifically because it was recommended for fans of Casey McQuiston. I borrowed the audiobook from my library. The narrator, Piper Goodeve, did a phenomenal job.

I would absolutely watch this as a movie or tv series! Enemies to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes, and it works super well here. They never really get to the point of toxicity, which I see sometimes with this trope.

I really appreciated how open and communicative Scottie’s family are. It was truly refreshing to see. I also really liked how this book discusses grief from heartbreak at a young age.

You will move through life and fall in love with many different people, and at some point, you will get your heart broken. It’s unavoidable. The key is to not be afraid of the breaking. People break our hearts, but they create more room in them first, and that room makes it possible for us to become more ourselves.

Tropes in this book include: enemies to lovers, fake dating, slow burn
