My Secret Vice by Alicia Wilder is an escapist political romance.
I loved The West Wing and when I saw this book comped to that tv show, I knew I needed to read it. I also live in the DC area, and it’s always fun seeing places I go to (including one of my favorite hiking spots) in books set near me.
I had fun reading this one, and I inhaled it pretty quickly after it hooked me (about 15% in). I enjoyed the author’s prose the fact that it’s dual-POV. There’s also an adorable doggo named Thor! While the characters are steeped in politics, they’re both on the same side as the aisle (which doesn’t seem to be typical in political romances).
In addition, the romance features mature characters who are both in their 40s. As I get closer to that age range, I’ve been really appreciating seeing this representation in my books.
Tropes in this book include: mature characters (both in their 40s), workplace romance, forbidden romance
I received a complimentary review copy from the author and Literary Media Tours. All opinions contained herein are my own.
