Three BFFs and a Wedding, #1

The Worst Wedding Date by Pippa Grant is a contemporary romcom and the first book in the Three BFFs and a Wedding series.
This was my second book by the author, but absolutely not my last as I anticipate completely inhaling this three-book series. I ended up reading the majority of this book in one day.
The wedding mentioned in the series title is the long-planned destination wedding of Emma and Chandler. Laney is one of Emma’s best friends, and she is charged with “babysitting” Emma’s brother Theo and keeping him away from Chandler in the week leading up to the wedding at a failing resort in Hawaii.
I apprecaite the banter she writes between her main characters, and I really bought their love story. I LOVED the saving of kittens and their momma as one of the side plots.
The main criticism I have about her books is that they run a little on the longer side. This book was over 400 pages and I’m not sure it really needed that. There was a really weird scene about the hero’s hand falling asleep the first night they’re sharing a bed that was completely unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the plot. Additionally, I felt like all of the characters here were acting a little too young for their age, so everything might have worked out better if they were aged down a bit.
Tropes in this book include: small town, best friend’s brother, opposites attract, only one bed, forced proximity
I received a complimentary review copy from the author and Hambright PR. All opinions contained herein are my own.
