In Gad We Trust is a celebrity memoir by comedic actor Josh Gad.
I borrowed the audiobook from my local library while following along in my physical review copy.
Unsurprisingly, Gad narrates the book himself and does a phenomenal job. There are also interstitials from Sasha Baron Cohen, Ron Howard, and Mel Brooks (who also narrate their segments). I highly recommend the audio if you can parse books that way.
The hardcover version has a TON of photos sprinkled throughout, and I really enjoyed those peeks behind-the-scenes.
I have been a fan of Josh Gad for a long time, ever since I saw him in the movie 21 and especially after Love & Other Drugs. His turn as Bearclaw in New Girl never failed to make me smile, and The Book of Mormon musical is one of the funniest satires I have ever heard in my entire life.
So I went into this memoir to have a good time. Little did I know that I would tear up almost as often as I had gut-deep cackles. I personally identified with Gad in a lot of ways. The publisher blurb is truly not lying about this being “a heartfelt and hilarious collection of essays.”
The writing was So Good. I really hope we get another memoir out of him in another 20 years or so. I am so very excited that Gad is working on a sequel to Spaceballs with Mel Brooks. That IP is in great hands.
I received a complimentary review copy from Gallery Books. All opinions contained herein are my own.
