The House of My Mother is a memoir from the eldest daughter of the viral 8 Passengers family vlog, Shari Franke.
I have followed along with the court cases against Jodi Hildebrant and Ruby Franke for a while. I never followed the family vlogging, because that kind of content makes me uncomfortable.
The ghostwriter that Franke worked with, Caroline Ryder, did a PHENOMENAL job, and I commend Franke for reading the audiobook herself. I think she did a great job. I also commend her on not naming her underage siblings and letting them have space to tell their own stories in the future if they choose to.
It is worth keeping in mind that Franke is in her very early 20s. Even so, she does a pretty good job reflecting on what she has lived through. I’d love to check back in with her in another 10 or so years to see if she has reflected on things further.
