Out on a Limb is a contemporary romance with great disability representation by Hannah Bonam-Young.

Win strives to be as independent as possible, never wanting to be coddled for her limb difference. After a phenomenal one-night stand with a charming stranger at a Halloween party, her whole life changes on a dime with a positive pregnancy test.

Accidental pregnancy is not one of my favorite tropes, but this book came very highly recommended to me so I borrowed the audiobook from my local library. I ended up inhaling this book in practically one sitting! I really enjoyed it; the narrator did a phenomenal job.

There’s great disability representation in this book. I already mentioned one of the main characters has a limb difference, but in addition the other main character uses a prosthetic leg! There’s also chronic illness representation as one of our main characters also has had cancer.

I heard there’s a bonus epilogue in the new print edition, so I got myself a shelf trophy!

Tropes in this book include: accidental pregnancy, strangers to friends to lovers, disability representation (limb difference, prosthetic leg)

CW: death of loved one (off-page), main character with cancer, ableism, mentions of prior emotionally abusive relationship
