Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher is a delightful fantasy romance with horror and mystery elements.
Earlier this year, I ordered a set of the full series with the beautiful Orbit covers. In addition, I borrowed the audiobook from my local library. The narrator does a really great job, especially with distinct character voices.
I inhaled it in one day. In fact, I ate it all up on a day that I was already very busy driving/transporting equipment/helping setup/run/breakdown an event. Even though my body was weary, I stayed up until like 2 am to finish this book, I was so into it.
I loved the depiction of both Grace and Marguerite’s friendship and the bond between Stephen and his fellow paladins. I was excited that Stephen knits socks! I, too, am a knitter (and tbh the majority of the time I’m working on socks). Tab, Grace’s exotic pet, absolutely stole the show for me; I love him and I will protect him with my life.
It was easy for me to identify with how awkward and introverted Grace felt around people. It was lovely watching both her and Stephen realize that it’s okay to trust and let someone in
After reading Swordheart, which is set in the same universe, earlier this year, it was really fun to see Zale again. I cackled so loudly when they referenced something that happened in that book, which made me glad I read them in this order.
Kingfisher’s humor just always works for me. I love how there’s a twinge of horror in near everything she touches. This is so my vibe and I am so excited to continue on with this series.
