Crash Landing is a fun and heartwarming adventure romance by debut author Annie McQuaid.

I followed along in my physical review copy while listening to the audiobook, which I borrowed from my local library. The narrator does a great job and kept me engaged.

This was a fun read! I’m looking forward to what the author writes in the future, because I really enjoyed the banter between our two leads and inhaled this book in a day.

One of the things that sometimes happens to me in dual timeline books is that I prefer one over the other. That did happen to me for this book: I much preferred the contemporary timeline. The past timeline was when they were teens, and I don’t read a lot of YA contemporary romance.

Since it does include a plane crash (not a spoiler, look at the title and the cover), I’m not sure I’d recommend you read it while flying, but it’s a good option for a beach read!

The author does a great job describing the lush scenery on the tropical island they end up on, so if you’d like to feel like you went on a tropical vacation this could be good for that too!

Another thing to note: there were way too many HP references in here for a book published in the year of our lord 2025. I counted at least four on-page references.

Tropes: second chance, childhood sweethearts, enemies to lovers, forced proximity (to the extreme), dual timeline, opposites attract, only one island

CW: plane crash, death of parent (off-page), PTSD (military veteran), parental interference

I received a complimentary review copy from Avon Books. All opinions contained herein are my own.
