Food for Thought: Essays & Ruminations is a collection of essays about food and life by culinary personality Alton Brown.
I listened to the audiobook while following along in my physical review copy. The hardcover contains doodles drawn by the author, which are super fun, but I’d highly recommend listening to this one!
It’s narrated by the author and he does a great job, but I’m a little biased. I’ve been a fan of Alton Brown for a long time, starting with the tv series Good Eats but of course continuing with Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen. His comedic timing and quick wit just really works for me.
Like many essay collections I’ve read before, I liked some more than others, and the book as a whole felt a little meandering due to the format. But this is a good read if you’re a fan of Brown’s or if you’d like a peek behind the scenes of culinary television.
I received a complimentary review copy from Gallery Press and Simon Audio. All opinions contained herein are my own.
