Last Dance Before Dawn is the final book in the queer historical Nightingale mystery series by Katharine Schellman.
I listened to the audiobook that I borrowed from my local library while following along in my physical review copy.
The series in set during Prohibition-era New York City, and centers around the found family created at a speakeasy called The Nightingale. I’m a big fan of both historical fiction and mysteries, and this series has a pretty great mix. There’s a good amount of queer and racial diversity throughout the cast of characters as well.
I’m pretty pleased by this finale! I didn’t really love the previous book in the series, but the author stuck the landing.
If you like reading mysteries and/or the Jazz Age, you should check out this series!
Rep: bisexual MC, queer side characters
CW: death, murder, firearms, violence, racism, classism, homophobia
I received a complimentary review copy from Minotaur Books. All opinions contained herein are my own.
