Burn for Me is the first book in a phenomenal urban fantasy romance series by Ilona Andrews.
I really love the worldbuilding in this series, which is potentially easy to see as this is my third time starting this first trilogy in the series. It’s set in an alternative universe where a group of European scientists in 1863 discovered a serum that brought out one’s innate magic talents. I especially love the magic system, which includes drawing ritual circles to help amplify their internal magic.
Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband and wife, and they’re one of my favorite writing teams currently publishing today. As always, the prose is great, and there’s a lovely dash of humor.
Nevada and Rogan are such interesting characters, and they even each have a visible growth arc in this first book of their trilogy. Their banter is phenomenal. Nevada’s whole family (blood and found) is amazing, and Bug must be protected.
I highly recommend this series, and honestly anything they write.
