Murder Takes a Vacation is fun cozy mystery featuring international travel.

I borrowed the audiobook from my local library and followed along in my physical review copy. The audiobook narrator was really fun to listen to, and I appreciated her comedic timing.

This was my first book by the author, though I’m told that the character of Mrs. Blossom–or Muriel, the FMC of this novel–is a side character in another series.

The travel in the book is really fun! First, the main character starts somewhere local to me, as she’s flying out of an airport that I tend to use. She travels to London and then Paris before embarking on a river cruise (hinted at by the cover).

I had fun with the book overall, but the author did seem to have a laser focus on the face that Muriel is fat. It would come up so often that it became a bit unnecessary. I hope if there are more books with Muriel as the main character, they don’t focus as much on her weight.

Rep: older FMC (late 60s), fat FMC

I received a complimentary review copy from William Morrow via Epic Tastemakers. All opinions contained herein are my own.
