Extremity is a fast-paced sci-fi detective story from Nicholas Binge that absolutely stole and kept my interest.

I listened to my audio review copy during a road trip with my partner over the holidays. When I’m at the wheel, I tend to listen to a book while my aforementioned partner tries to take a nap. Well, once again, my partner got way too invested in the story to really nap!

It’s probably best to go into this book as blind as possible. The narrator did a pretty good job throughout. However, there are three point-of-view characters and I was very thankful the name of the character was stated prior to their segments. If that wasn’t a feature, I could see how I absolutely could have confused some of the characters with one another.

One is a chief detective, another is former detective who was forced into retirement after she was undercover for a long time, and the final character is a fairly new officer who was definitely not ready for this case.

This was my first read from the author, though I do have his debut novel, Ascension, on my review TBR. I really need to get around to reading it!

I received a complimentary review copy from TorDotCom Pub and Macmillan Audio. All opinions contained herein are my own.
