My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved both Palamedes Sextus and Camilla Hect in Gideon the Ninth, and was glad to see this short story prequel set when they were both thirteen. It seems best to read this after reading the aforementioned Gideon novel.
I really enjoyed this story! (Which you can read for free on TOR.com.) I adore closed-room mysteries, and I really fell in love with the character of Archivist Juno Zeta. If this series is ever turned into a television series or a movie, I hope they include some backstory so that Emma Thompson can portray the role.
