Sara A. Mueller’s debut novel The Bone Orchard is out today from Tor Books. We follow the mistress to an Emperor who has been poisoned. His final command to her is to solve his murder and make sure that whomever is responsible for his death will not take control of the empire. If she completes the task, she will finally be free.
The worldbuilding is phenomenal and there’s a good amount of intriguing court politics if that’s something you’re into.
A good amount of this book is about processing various traumas inflicted on women and more specifically sex workers. This book goes to very dark places, so please check out my content warnings in my full review. Overall, I found that the topics were handled pretty well.
