Hook, Line, and Sinker is a contemporary romance with comedic elements by Tessa Bailey. I listened to the audiobook, which clocks in at ten hours and is narrated by Lauren Sweet. We follow our two characters with third-person points-of-view.
Fox Thornton is a king crab fisherman, well-known in the small town of Westport as the local Casanova. Most of his actions are just a mask for his inner demons. After the events of It Happened One Summer, he and Hannah Bellinger because text pen-pals when the latter moved back to L.A. When she comes back to town for work, and ends up crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom and the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur.
I didn’t like this one as much as I liked the first book in the series, but it was still pretty enjoyable! I love shot gunning rom-coms like this in between heavier books, or as “brain candy” when my mental health takes a dive.
I really loved Hannah and watching her journey from the “supporting character” to the “leading lady” in her own life. Her love of music really spoke to me as well.
There’s a lovely epilogue set ten years into the future which is a fun little scene.
Tropes in this book include: text-based pen-pals, small town, friends to lovers

I also used this series as a “palate cleanser” between heavier books. I agree the first book in the series was better. But I enjoyed your review!
