Where the Library Hides by Isabel Ibañez is a historical fantasy romance and the final book in the Secrets of the Nile duology.
I LOVED the first book in this duology, What the River Knows. I greatly enjoyed this one as well and found it to be a fitting conclusion to the series. I chose the audiobook as my November @bookofhemonth pick and expect to get the hardcover as an add-on next month.
We continue top follow the dual perspectives of two main characters, narrated wonderfully by Ana Osorio and Ahmed Hamad. I really love how Ibañez writes; her prose is lush and highly consumable. I love the way she writes headstrong female main characters, and especially appreciate the banter between Inez and Whit. Whit is definitely one of my top book boyfriends at this point.
I liked this one a little bit less than the first book in the series, which I gave a full 5 stars. There were several twists that I definitely called in advance, and the overall villain leaned a little on the twirling-moustache side of things. We do get an epilogue which gives us a glimpse into the future for all of our faves.
If you’re a fan of The Mummy movies with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, you may like this duology! If you, like me, had an obsession with ancient Egypt when you were a kid, please run, do not walk, to get this series.
CW: violence, firearms, kidnapping
