All or Nothing, #2

All Twerk, No Play is a fun and steamy contemporary romance by Bailey Seaborn.
The title and cover were what initially caught my eye about this book. While All Twerk, No Play is the second book in the All or Nothing series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. That’s what I did, but my completionist heart already bought an ebook copy of the first book so I can check that out as well.
I’m a big fan of the black cat/golden retriever trope, so I absolutely ate this up! Victoria is a lawyer who armors herself with to-do lists and plans. Cruz is a charming and carefree personal trainer who occasionally gigs as a musician.
If you are a music-lover, if not a musician yourself, there are so many great references in this book. Chapters start with song titles, which was a fun literary device. The author has a playlist for the book!
Both of our main characters are fans of music, as you can probably tell by the cover. As a musician myself, I really enjoyed watching them explore (or re-explore in Victoria’s case) that hobby. I felt very seen in Victoria in many ways, but especially here since I joined my video game orchestra during a period of my life where I wanted to reconnect with things that once brought me joy. I loved watching her character growth, as a recovering perfectionist myself.
Tropes in this book include: opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, black cat, golden retriever, class differences, fake dating, neighbors to lovers, he falls first, forced proximity
CW: grief, infidelity (by neither of the main characters), sexual harassment
I received a complimentary review copy from the author and Booked with the Emilys. All opinions contained herein are my own.
