You Didn’t Hear This From Me by Kelsey McKinney is a collection of essays about storytelling and gossip.

I borrowed the audiobook from my local library and did a blended read with my physical review copy. The author narrates her own book, and I enjoyed listening to her! It’s always fun to read self-narrated books because it’s almost like you’re having tea with the author. I appreciated the author’s sense of humor around something that can be a very dramatic topic at times.

When the author brought up oral storytelling very early in this book, I was very intrigued. You can definitely tell that the author really researched about this topic! She brought up the translation of Gilgamesh by Sophus Helle, which I immediately purchased to read. I was disappointed that she didn’t mention the translation of Beowulf done by Maria Davina Headley, which was also phenomenal.

I received a complimentary review copy from Grand Central Publishing. All opinions contained herein are my own.
