This is How You Lose the Time War is a fantastic sci-fi epistolary novella from Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.
Both authors embody one of the main characters: Red or Blue. I’m a huge fan of epistolary works and the authors did a great job with the rapport between them. They also did a fantastic job keeping a consistent through-line even though the title literally tells you there’s some timey-wimey stuff going on.
The writing is gorgeous. I listened to the audiobook while following along with my physical review copy, and that was a very pleasant experience for me. There are more than just letters between the two of them, there are also interstitials. I enjoyed them, but I think I liked the letter-writing so much more.
